Ouch

It's been fairly nightmarish trying to get the update done, primarily because the old blog was built on a really early version of software, and there is all sorts of arcane code in there that needs weeded out. It's taken me less than two days recently to build one from the ground up, I guess it's like the difference between new construction and remodeling- you never know what you're going to get into until you start.

I've also been really busy with the real world, which hasn't helped with being able to focus on this, either. Apologies for all the cyber-dust on the floor, but I think the trend is up from here! (I hope.)

Still time to take advantage of two for one Survival Spice®!

Pardon the dust...

We have a major design of the Desert Island Foods site, along with TPC coming over the next few weeks, so it's going to be a bumpy ride for a while. Hang in there, I have the back end software for the new blog loaded already, which will have more groovy features to play with.

DIF Site Maintenance

Happy Monday, all. It's a busy day doing some site maintenance over at DIF that still isn't done, so this isn't much of a post today, I'm afraid.

Back to the geeky world of aspx and css. Whee!!!

Technical Problems

For some bizarre reason, most likely a DNS issue, I wasn't able to get to either the public site to comment, or the back end of the site to post yesterday, sorry!

Thanks for your patience, and to those who emailed. The usual nonsense will continue shortly...

We're working on a network problem over at Desert Island Foods™.com this morning. At the moment, we don't know exactly how long it will take to isolate, but a bunch of very talented people are swapping out switches, routers, and jiggling things.

Sorry! If you're trying to order "Two For the Troops", check back this afternoon sometime, we really appreciate your patience. The newsletter will still hopefully go out today, stay tuned!

UPDATE: Fixed.

We had a ridiculous amount of spam over the Memorial Day weekend, so I've really cranked up the spam filter to stun levels. If your comment doesn't appear after you post it, please email me. Remember, you have to delete "REMOVETHESEWORDS" from my email address to send it.

Under Construction- Server Migration

Due to the increased traffic around here- (thanks!) we're in the process of moving The Pragmatic Chef™ to a new server. Thanks to those who have emailed me to point out that the last few posts have disappeared. It should all be resolved soon!

Site Maintainence

We're in the process of upgrading my version of Movable Type, the software that runs this site. There will be some downtime at some point, hopefully it won't be too long or too painful!

I've set up a backup site at thepragmaticchef.blogspot.com, in case of disaster. Please bookmark it, just in case!!!

Update 12/13: The upgrade to MT 3.2 is done. Thanks to the 2mhosting crew for a smooth upgrade. No known issues, but please email me if something doesn't seem to work properly for you. Thanks.

How to Comment on a post

I've had a few emails asking how to comment on a post. I think it's great that quite a few regular visitors to this site are new to blogging. Welcome!

At the bottom of every post there is a time stamp and beside it, a link to the comments page. Just click on 'comments' to read the comments already posted, (the number in paranthesis beside 'comments' is the amount of current comments), or to post a comment of your own.

BTW, the time stamp is the permanent link to that particular post. If you want to email a friend about a particular post, (and I hope you do!), just right-click on the time and select "copy link" and then paste the link (ctrl +v) into your email. It's that easy!

Hope that helps. Feel free to comment on a post, your feedback is welcome. If you have any other questions about blogging, email me. Thanks for reading.
