Steeler Wings- Victory!

Survival Spice- the spicy, flavorful all natural gluten free barbecue rub that's great on just about anything Link to Desert Island Foods.com

Pittsburgh Steeler Hot Wings

Well, the football season got off to a good start- my Pittsburgh Steelers beat up on the Cleveland Browns until they couldn't take it any more. And no, I'm not a fair weather fan; during the 60s I was a fan when they were far and away the worst team in football.

What's football without hot wings? Nothin'.

I like to grill my wings, but I was getting over some kind of bug, so I had to content myself with seasoning them well with Survival Spice™, then roasting them on a parchment lined sheet pan until they were crispy:

As they were in the oven, I mixed some hot sauce, butter, more Survival Spice®, and a bit of chipotle BBQ sauce in a sauce pan, got it all melted and bubbly, poured the sauce into a work bowl, then tossed the crispy wings with the sauce. Taking a fine suggestion from Julie, I plated them on a Steelers platter.

Mmmmm... spicy, crispy and full of flavor. They tasted great with a few cold beers.

Well good for your Steelers. The Oakland Raiders have taken over being the worst of the worst. I have been a fan forever. I have been a season ticket holder for the last 11 years. I think the bandwagon just took a sharp turn.

Oh yeah, Great Lookin Wings

Those were THE best wings I've ever eaten. And I'm not saying so because I'm married to the chef. We had to fight over the last few.

That game made me sick to my stomach!

Sorry to hear that, Mark. Seeing a Browns fan in pain makes me all weepy-like.

Go Rams!

These ribs are popping up all over the internet. Sorry, but go Rams!

Sorry to be repetitious. It didn't seem like my comment was registering and then I am proving that I am up way too late as of course, these are wings and not ribs. I don't know football or grilling but we do like the Rams in this house and are also patient when they don't play well!

Hi Belle-

Thanks for stopping by! Ribs, wings, whatever, it's all good.

Rams, eh? Gee, I kind of remember liking them okay when they were in L.A.

Posted by: the pragmatic chef™ at September 11, 2007 7:43 PM

Ha! I don't care who's playing, since of course I believe that only basketball is a real sport. As long as there are good snacks.

Posted by: Julie at September 11, 2007 7:44 PM

And then there are the Colts! We cheer for them when they aren't playing the Rams!

Actually, I am the snack maker in our house and I watch very little of any sport. Football games are good white noise to sleep to!
