There's a great article for all you chile-heads over at Dave DeWitt's fiery-foods site that addresses what is really the hottest chile pepper in the world. I thought it was the red savina, myself, but they've stumbled on to a pepper called a Bhut Jolokia that's about 3-4 times as hot as a habenero.

Put your gloves on and check it out! It's a great site, full of lots of good chile and bbq tidbits that I know I've mentioned before, but it's worth making you aware of again.

I gots me some Red Savina that's all ground up in to powder. I dunno why, but I haven't tried it out yet. I can hardly wait!

Biggles

I think you'll like it, Dr. B! It's not as friendly and fruity before it rips out your heart and shows it to you as a habanero, but it's good.

If you really want to do something evil, infuse some oil or butter with it.

Biggle's, I hope you are careful with that stuff. It is not for wimps. Here is a recipe, I stole.
I will stick to the Survival Spice!

Burnin' Ribs

4 racks of baby-back pork ribs

Dry Rub
3 tbsp curry powder
1 tbsp kosher salt
5 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp ground cumin
2 tbsp ground paprika
1 tbsp ground cayenne
2 tbsp ground Red Savina™ habanero (or more (never less!), to taste)
3 tbsp curry powder
2 tbsp allspice
2 tbsp powdered ginger
1 tbsp granulated garlic (not garlic salt)
2 tbsp freshly ground black pepper

Peel membrane from ribs and rinse meat. Mix dry ingredients together, and rub into both sides and ends of meat. Allow meat to marinate for at least 8 hours in a refrigerator. Smoke ribs, meat side up, until meat is tender and pulls off the bone, approximately 3 hours.

I've got my eye on the recipe for ribs. And having eaten a habanero by itself a few times, I'm certain that pepper by itself would make me cry.

You're hard core, Chris!

That rub looks interesting, Chile. I wonder why curry powder is in there twice, was it a cut and paste error?

I do not know, I told you I stole the recipe. Maybe they like curry? There is a little to much heat for my liking. That is a powerfull rub no matter how you look at it. Prime Rib Baby and Crab Cakes at the Raider Game. At least we will have the killer tailgate.

Hey,

I accidentally dropped the vial the other day, SMASH. I used a paper towl to pick it up and inspect. No breakage.

Maybe I'll snort some today after work.

Biggles

If I come across a really spicy $100 bill in the next year or so, Biggles, I'll know that you did it...

Man, that's some serious tailgating, Chile!
