I'm going to put up a recipe tomorrow, which calls for corned beef (duh), onions, potatoes (I'm using new red potatoes) carrots and cabbage. Get yourself some cans of Guinness (2 or so for the recipe and more for you) and some Colman's dry mustard powder, if you want to cook along.

Wanna know something? I have nothing traditional planned for tomorrow. Wanna know something even more pathetic than that? This is typical.
Biggles
It's only pathetic if you're Irish, Biggles. The whole thing is a bit silly anyway, it's not like every Irishman you see in Sligo or County Cork is walking around eating corned cabbage day and night.
It is tradition in my family. My mom would kick my butt if she heard I didn't have corned beef and cabbage on St. Patty's Day.
Drinking all the Guinness is my idea, of course...
If I don't have cornbeef and cabbage today,the holiday just won't be a celebration. I am cheating a little. I am having coleslaw and I am smoking a home cured corned beef. I think I will put a green drop of food coloring in my beer.

and to whiskey, amber clear;
Not as sweet as a woman's kiss,
but a darn sight more sincere!
Great poem, Chile.
Good idea, smoking a corned brisket. What kind of smoke are you going to do? I would think something light like applewood, or something fairly neutral like oak if you want to go heavier, eh?
Take some pics! We'd love to hear about how you corned your own beef, too.
